audit.h uses uint32_t and bool.
log.h uses abs.

This patch removes includes that are not used. The removals were found with
include-what-you-use which checks if any of the symbols from a header is
in use.

syslog priority
This is useful when we execute our own programs, reading output from its
STDERR, and want to retain priority information.
|
|
Make sure to extract the log-priority when comparing against
max-log-level, otherwise, we will always drop those messages.
This fixes bus-proxyd to properly send warnings on policy blocks.

It was not passing the error argument.
|
|
This enables us to write things like this:

Which is function that returns -errno on failure, as well as printing an
error message, all in one line.

sd_bus_error_set_errno() allows negative errors too, hence, be equally
nice.

Also, while we are at it, introduce some syntactic sugar for creating
ERRNO= and MESSAGE= structured logging fields.

- Rename log_meta() → log_internal(), to follow naming scheme of most
other log functions that are usually invoked through macros, but never
directly.
- Rename log_info_object() to log_object_info(), simply because the
object should be before any other parameters, to follow OO-style
programming style.

log_error_errno() as log calls that take error numbers
This change has two benefits:
- The format string %m will now resolve to the specified error (or to
errno if the specified error is 0. This allows getting rid of a ton of
strerror() invocations, a function that is not thread-safe.
- The specified error can be passed to the journal in the ERRNO= field.
Now of course, we just need somebody to convert all cases of this:
log_error("Something happened: %s", strerror(-r));
into thus:
log_error_errno(-r, "Something happened: %m");

This adds a new log_emergency() function, which is equivalent to
log_error() for non-PID-1, and logs at the highest priority for PID 1.
Some messages which occur before freezing are converted to use it.

Repetetive messages can be annoying when running with
SYSTEMD_LOG_LEVEL=debug, but they are sometimes very useful
when debugging problems. Add log_trace which is like log_debug
but becomes a noop unless LOG_TRACE is defined during compilation.
This makes it easy to enable very verbose logging for a subset
of programs when compiling from source.

We don't support journal-less systems anyway, so let's avoid the
confusion.

If PID 1 debug logging is enabled, it is nice to keep those settings
when switching to systemd-shutdown binary, independently of whether
this was done through /proc/cmdline options, or through runtime
manipulations.

Messages with log levels above the current maximum log level will be dropped
inside log_meta(). But to be able to call the function, all parameters for
the function need to be provided. This can easily get expensive, if values
need to be calculated or functions are used in parameters.
Avoid all useless work by checking inside the macro, before we look
at any parameters passed to the logging functions.

Always use our own macros, and name all our own macros the same style.
|

I'm assuming that it's fine if a _const_ or _pure_ function
calls assert. It is assumed that the assert won't trigger,
and even if it does, it can only trigger on the first call
with a given set of parameters, and we don't care if the
compiler moves the order of calls.

Adding UNIT= to log lines allows them to be shown
in 'systemctl status' output, etc.
A new set of macros and functions is added. This allows for less
verbose notation than using log_struct() explicitly.
The set of logging functions is expanded to take a pair of arguments
(e.g. "UNIT=" and the RHS) which add an extra line to the structured
log entry. This can be used to add macros which add a different
identifier later on.

#pragma once has been "un-deprecated" in gcc since 3.3, and is widely supported
in other compilers.
I've been using and maintaining (rebasing) this patch for a while now, as
it annoyed me to see #ifndef fooblahfoo, etc all over the place,
almost arrogant about the annoyance of having to define all these names to
perform a commen but neccicary functionality, when a completely superior
alternative exists.
I havn't sent it till now, cause its kindof a style change, and it is bad
voodoo to mess with style that has been established by more established
editors. So feel free to lambast me as a crazy bafoon.

We finally got the OK from all contributors with non-trivial commits to
relicense systemd from GPL2+ to LGPL2.1+.
Some udev bits continue to be GPL2+ for now, but we are looking into
relicensing them too, to allow free copy/paste of all code within
systemd.
The bits that used to be MIT continue to be MIT.
The big benefit of the relicensing is that closed source code may now
link against libsystemd-login.so and friends.
