A bit snake-oilish, but can't hurt.

Actually, thinking about this, maybe it would be nicer to actually look
for "Limit" in the string rather than chopping off a "Default"....
Sounds more generic...

Expose `DefaultLimit*` as properties on dbus

Previously, we'd allocate the TTY, spawn a service on it, but
immediately start processing the TTY and forwarding it to whatever the
commnd was started on. This is however problematic, as the TTY might get
actually opened only much later by the service. We'll hence first get
EIOs on the master as the other side is still closed, and hence
considered it hung up and terminated the session.
With this change we add a flag to the pty forwarding logic:
PTY_FORWARD_IGNORE_INITIAL_VHANGUP. If set, we'll ignore all hangups
(i.e. EIOs) on the master PTY until the first byte is successfully read.
From that point on we consider a hangup/EIO a regular connection termination. This
way, we handle the race: when we get EIO initially we'll ignore it,
until the connection is properly set up, at which time we start
honouring it.

This adds support for caching harddisk passwords in the kernel keyring
if it is available, thus supporting caching without Plymouth being
around.
This is also useful for hooking up "gdm-auto-login" with the collected
boot-time harddisk password, in order to support gnome keyring
passphrase unlocking via the HDD password, if it is the same.
Any passwords added to the kernel keyring this way have a timeout of
2.5min at which time they are purged from the kernel.
|
|
Primarily clean-up error logging: log either all or no error messages in
the various functions. Mostly this means the actual password querying
calls no longer will log on their own, but the callers have to do so.
Contains various other fixes too, for example ports some code over to
use the clean-up macro.
Should contain no functional changes.

Make sure all variable-length inputs are properly terminated or that
their length is encoded in some way. This avoids ambiguity of
adjacent inputs.
E.g., in case of a hash function taking two strings, compressing "ab"
followed by "c" is now distinct from "a" followed by "bc".
|
|
All our hash functions are based on siphash24(), factor out
siphash_init() and siphash24_finalize() and pass the siphash
state to the hash functions rather than the hash key.
This simplifies the hash functions, and in particular makes
composition simpler as calling siphash24_compress() repeatedly
on separate chunks of input has the same effect as first
concatenating the input and then calling siphash23_compress()
on the result.

logging fixes and more
|
|
Let's unify more code.
Also, rework the macro to accept a trailing semicolon, to make the code
prettier.
|
|
Also, make sure it follows the same scheme as log_syntax() does in its
behaviour.
|
|
- Rely everywhere that we use abs() on the error code passed in anyway,
thus don't need to explicitly negate what we pass in
- Never attach synthetic error number information to log messages. Only
log about errors we *receive* with the error number we got there,
don't log any synthetic error, that don#t even propagate, but just eat
up.
- Be more careful with attaching exactly the error we get, instead of
errno or unrelated errors randomly.
- Fix one occasion where the error number and line number got swapped.
- Make sure we never tape over OOM issues, or inability to resolve
specifiers

We need to prevent the creation of the gpt automount unit, which will not
get overridden by the fstab mount unit.

[v2] bootchart: don't fail if "model name" is missing from cpuinfo
|
|
base-fs: consider inability to create /root non-fatal
|
|
Fixes #1414
|
|
Define PROC_CPUINFO_MODEL to indicate the CPU model field in /proc/cpuinfo.
|
|
All users of get_status_field() expect the field pattern to occur in
the beginning of a line, and the delimiter is ':'.
Hardcode this into the function, and also skip any whitespace before ':'
to support fields in files like /proc/cpuinfo. Add support for returning
the full field value (currently stops on first whitespace).
Rename the function so it's easier to ensure all callers switch to new
semantics.

In sd-bus, the sd_bus_open_xyz() family of calls allocates a new bus,
while sd_bus_default_xyz() family tries to reuse the thread's default
bus. bus_open_transport() sometimes internally uses the former,
sometimes the latter family, but suggests it only calls the former via
its name. Hence, let's avoid this confusion, and generically rename the
call to bus_connect_transport().
Similar for all related calls.
And while we are at it, also change cgls + cgtop to do direct systemd
connections where possible, since all they do is talk to systemd itself.
|
|
|
|
This also allows us to drop build.h from a ton of files, hence do so.
Since we touched the #includes of those files, let's order them properly
according to CODING_STYLE.

Hook more properties for transient units
|
|
systemd-run can now launch units with WorkingDirectory, RootDirectory set.
|
|
Let's underline the header line of the table shown by cgtop, how it is
customary for tables. In order to do this, let's introduce new ANSI
underline macros, and clean up the existing ones as side effect.

Hook more properties for transient units
|
|
Let's stop using the "unsigned long" type for weights/shares, and let's
just use uint64_t for this, as that's what we expose on the bus.
Unify parsers, and always validate the range for these fields.
Correct the default blockio weight to 500, since that's what the kernel
actually uses.
When parsing the weight/shares settings from unit files accept the empty
string as a way to reset the weight/shares value. When getting it via
the bus, uniformly map (uint64_t) -1 to unset.
Open up StartupCPUShares= and StartupBlockIOWeight= to transient units.
|
|
This was used by consoled, which was removed, let's remove this too now.

systemd-run can now launch units with PrivateTmp, PrivateDevices,
PrivateNetwork, NoNewPrivileges set.

core: add support for the "pids" cgroup controller
|
|
This adds support for the new "pids" cgroup controller of 4.3 kernels.
It allows accounting the number of tasks in a cgroup and enforcing
limits on it.
This adds two new setting TasksAccounting= and TasksMax= to each unit,
as well as a gloabl option DefaultTasksAccounting=.
This also updated "cgtop" to optionally make use of the new
kernel-provided accounting.
systemctl has been updated to show the number of tasks for each service
if it is available.
This patch also adds correct support for undoing memory limits for units
using a MemoryLimit=infinity syntax. We do the same for TasksMax= now
and hence keep things in sync here.

off_t is a really weird type as it is usually 64bit these days (at least
in sane programs), but could theoretically be 32bit. We don't support
off_t as 32bit builds though, but still constantly deal with safely
converting from off_t to other types and back for no point.
Hence, never use the type anymore. Always use uint64_t instead. This has
various benefits, including that we can expose these values directly as
D-Bus properties, and also that the values parse the same in all cases.

settings file
Whenever we remove/rename/clone a machine image, make sure we do the
same for the image's .nspawn settings file.
|
|
util: introduce safe_fclose() and port everything over to it
|
|
Adds a coccinelle script to port things over automatically.
|
|
Let's also clean up single-line while and for blocks.
|
|
The previous coccinelle semantic patch that improved usage of
log_error_errno()'s return value, only looked for log_error_errno()
invocations with a single parameter after the error parameter. Update
the patch to handle arbitrary numbers of additional arguments.
